HI.

i know, it’s been awhile.

MAY be late, but like my Aunt Flow —I’ll show up eventually. *ba-dum tsss* 

I’ve been more present in life, accepting of the “good” and “bad” —it’s all LIFE.

Anyway, this time I found myself in another super random spiral of genres, as I do. Therefore, this playlist is longer than others… (#TWSS)

…BUT! I’m not gonna go on about each. I’ll just suggest SHUFFLE. And to maybe just read my snippets on the songs/shows you enjoy!

All the diff genres were [ofc] aligned with diff feels in my online absence.

The range — WIDE. 

I also re-found my appreciation for unique voices/production and the 80s, really. 

While going thru my usual musical roster [that tend to against the algorithm*], I found new artists + some gems from ones I know, just followed back on (—meaning they’re more, let’s say… “non-commercial tracks”). 

(*NOTE / NO SIDE: what EVERYONE needs to do; Love something for you, not a trend or what’s expected of you… JS. Also, to be clear, I’m not saying I have the “best” taste. I just saying, I have my own and own it. As I feel everyone should.)

    I found their music in Seattle when I accidentally stole glasses from a pop-up gallery.

    REALLY, they really fell in my closed umbrella; found out I “stole” ‘em when it started raining after we left lol.

    The song playing was “Black Light” —still my jam to this day! I remember taking video to Shazam the song later, and once I did: INSTANT FAN.

    “Rose” made it here cuz I had a week (or month) going thru their archive, cuz their music just makes me feel good! 😄

    I felt heard in this one —like, it’s actually a topic I talk about w one of my besties frequently —and recently on a podcast lol

    OK, so honestly got into Bad Bunny just last year… cuz the name threw me off, I think? IDK.

    Anywho, last summer had “events,” and I spent more time w my girl, the queen of being in yo’ feels music, miss JessiJess!

    I’m not about feels so I told her, I needed her to keep it upbeat lol

    TODAY: it’s 2023 and now “HOT GIRL SUMMER” is approaching. So, “WHERE SHE GOES” is my new vibe/jam este verano.

    Ahh. This song is therapeutic to me. Tyler is vulnerable, honest, and accepting of his past lives (i.e. what I refer as ‘past seasons’ often)

    And the video…man. It levels it up! Tyler visually shows his shedding the past, album by album.

    This is second single from Tyler’s new album, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale. (I’ve previously mentioned other faves on album, before the full album was released, in other posts.)

    Gotta add: I truly love Tyler’s artistic growth!

    TBH, I was not a fan of his when he first got all the buzz, but these last few years, damn. You can really hear and feel the growth he’s had as a human and an artist.

    AND I gotta say, his music video is really fxcking good. He is continuing to show he is a real overall artist. (Watching before listening will bring it all together 🙃)

  • ⌚️ MULLIGAN

    Another animated adult cartoon? Yes. But is it worth watching? I would not be writing this if it wasn’t.

    This is set in apocalyptic times, after an alien attack destroys earth. And I binged within a “few” hours 👀

    I honestly hadn’t heard of it before it premiered (May 12), and I don’t know HOW!! Cuz it’s right up my alley! #satire

    My theory is I’ve deterred my algorithm pretty well from knowing my actual taste (hehe!), so I found it organically.

    Well, kinda in that it was a new release they promoted like everything else the day of on Netflix.

    I usually ignore those, but that day, I was like, meh… new background noise. (No reviews; didn’t even read the premise.)

    I was honestly so surprised I hadn’t heard of this beforehand, because it stars so many of my fave comedic actors [voices], like the incredible Tina Fey and [usually] subtlety hilarious Sam Richardson!

    So, okay. Fine. I’ve rewatched the entire thing at least 2x already. . .

    The season 3 finale… UGH 😩

    Bittersweet.

    Though, it was PERFECTLY executed, I’m just going to miss it. . .

    I hesitated watching immediately cuz it was rumored to be the SERIES finale.

    And after watching… it appears it was…(?)

    This show is wonderful on so may levels. If it’s the end (which it appears so), it’s not due to ratings —it’s due to excellent storytelling about different humans overcoming things in life, growing, learning and realizing what really matters in life.

    This show is/was amazing because it’s humor wrapped in a fun emotional blanket. No matter what background, culture, beliefs, or past traumas endured throughout your life, each character grew to their best self.

    MAN. Such a satisfying ending.

    • (sn#1: after you spend nearly a decade obsessed with GoT and getting THAT ending —you learn to appreciate the ones that know when it’s time to go. And leave us with some peace for the time we spent. Real life is hard enough 💔✨)

    • (sn#2: I recommend to all my guy friends/readers!! It’s a rare gem of a show, in that I’ve found ALL people enjoy)

    Tim Robinson is back with another season of his cringeworthy comedy sketch show!

    He really knows how to make you laugh out loud AND feel uncomfortable —it’s great 😅

    Seasons and episodes are v short, so I blew through last two super fast, and I’m bound to do the same this time lol

  • ⌚️ Roy Wood Jr. • 2023 White House Correspondent’s Dinner

    The writers strike has me miss The Daily Show team (and the news, tbh) but watching Roy host the dinner was just what I needed.

    In his speech he, of course, goes over all the recent scandals in US politics, cuz LBH, there’s been A LOT. But more importantly, he expresses the importance of journalists, storytellers, and the truth, all in a sloe of solid jokes and jabs.

    It’s really funny, surprisingly personal, and overall inspiring✨
